I started this blog as a way for me to express what I love about the world of design. It’s the products I enjoy, from food, to health and beauty, to fashion. I’m a visual person. I respond to things that appeal to my senses. I am also drawn in by products or companies that can trigger memories, dreams and aspirations. I think, ‘How does that company make me feel?, Where does that scent take me?, Who do I become when I touch that cashmere sweater?’ I am here to explore concepts, brand identity, marketing, and advertising in hopes to become more aware and knowledgeable about the effects of design on us all to eventually become skilled in the field of design.

Me:

I’m a graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelors in Art and a minor in Art History (20th Century Design). I like paying attention to details. I like the idea of manipulating the eye by blending simplicity and glamour to reduce the gaudiness and excessiveness that exist in our culture. I want to blend my love of making by hand and illustrating with design for a more personal, nostalgic feel. I believe that good design involves a consciousness to produce things that are beautiful, that have a purpose, and encourages good behavior (inspired by Ellen Lupton). I have grown to become aware of our treatment of the environment and in doing so good design should also involve sustainability, which in itself promotes natural glamour (without all the excess), and timeless beauty. I am finally finding my niche, making my mark and coming into to who I want to be as a designer.
